In Stavanger, you will experience the old and modern, side by side. From walking through the old town to visiting the Oil Museum. It is all part of Norway. Then, hike the Pulpit Rock, and drive scenic roads to Byrkjedal, where Norwegian traditions come to life. 

Go slow in Sogndalstrand. Immerse yourself into the culture, history, galleries, waters, living museum! A small village where the river meets the sea. Here you can explore one hidden gem after the other, by cycle or foot! Remember to take your time and travel slowly!

  1. Day 1 ARRIVE in Stavanger

    You’ll arrive in Stavanger, known as the oil capital of Norway. A beautiful and perfect start to a week-long journey. Settle in and in the evening visit one of the many local restaurants for a tasteful welcome! 

  2. Day 2 GO DISCOVER old and modern Stavanger

    A city needs to be explored! The best way is together with a local expert! The expert will take you through the old town and end with a modern view of the city. Let us know your interests, and we will tailor your adventure. OR, just follow your new local friend!

    Make sure to get recommendations of a good restaurant for the evening!

  3. Day 3 RISE and SHINE HIKE of Pulpit Rock

    Today is an early start! Let’s beat the crowd and hit the road early for an early morning hike of the famous Pulpit Rock! Then, cross by ferry, and admire the beautiful Lysefjorden. The hike is a couple of hours each way. On the top, the view over Lysefjorden is to be stored in the memory vault! 

    Afterward, continue on and drive to Byrkjedal for the night.

  4. Day 4 EXPLORE local traditions

    Spend the day at Byrkjedal and explore the local traditions. A lot can be seen and enjoyed on-site, but we recommend getting in the car to explore the surroundings further!

  5. Day 5 DRAMATIC DRIVE to Sogndalstrand

    No trip in Norway is complete without a stunning drive! Today, you’ll pass through Gloppedalsura and Jøssingfjorden. Both locations are part of the Magma Geopark. The drives are through narrow roads, steep mountainsides, and stunning views. In Jøssingfjord, make sure you stop to see the houses under the mountain cliff!

     

    Once you reach Sogndalstrand, you can feel your shoulders dropping down. The atmosphere is slow and gentle. Spend the evening over first-class food, reflecting on what you just experienced today!

  6. Day 6 GO SLOW in Sogndalstrand

    Sogndalstrand has a lot to offer. It’s history, culture and it is its own living museum. Borrow a bike and go explore. Why not go for a swim? Either in the sea, river, or lake? You can also test your golfing skills in the 6-hole golfing course! Make sure to be inspired in the local gallery next door. OR go nostalgic in the old grocery store.     In the evening, stroll down to the pier and see the fish jumping as the sun is setting.

  7. Day 7 CYCLE to a Living Museum

    Cycle through small settlements, industries along the sea on narrow roads. Stop as you want, and admire the sea view. Finally, reach Nesvåg, and Johnny’s Sea- and Motor Museum. A warm welcome awaits you. It is a living museum, where Johnny also works. He has restored more than 100 boat engines, other maritime equipment and even rebuilt an old fishing home from 1883!

  8. Day 8 DRIVE to Stavanger and Departure

    It is time to bid goodbye to Sogndalstrand and hit the road. The end of your slow adventure has arrived. Make your way to Stavanger and the ferry, and cruise on to Denmark and Europe.
